A Pensacola woman was killed early Tuesday in a single vehicle crash on the Bayou Texar Bridge.

Malarie McLamb, 24, was headed east on Cervantes Street in a sport utility vehicle when she lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete wall, Pensacola police said.

The crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. in East Pensacola Heights.

The Police Department is investigating if speed played a role in the crash, Assistant Police Chief Chip Simmons said.

McLamb, who was wearing a seat belt, is the first traffic fatality this year within city limits.

It is probably a lot easier to lose control of an SUV because of the center of gravity. Twenty-four years old... So young. My condolences to the family.

It seems like a lot of the car crashes lately have been with SUV's. A friend of mine was in a crash this past weekend - in a SUV. She is hurt but will mend. She heard metal grinding then lost control. Maybe, SUV owners should be checking their cars???

I will always remember Malarie as being a wonderful person. You could always count on her to do something for others. She didn't flaunt her good deeds like some do, but she did them quietly without recognition from others. I also want to sent my sympathies to the McLamb family. She is in a better place

I just found out today. Malarie was on of those girls you just expected to keep bouncing around forever from place to place. Our little gypsy friend. She was one of my best friends. I'm still in shock. I had to  come read it on the pnj, hoping the call I got was somehow a mistake. I wish I could be there to give my condolences in person. To call her friend was to love her, flaws and all. I just can't belive you are gone. This would be the biggest prank yet. I miss you, Mal.

During my college years I remember meeting Malarie in Youth Group when
she was in the 7th or 8th group.  Because of my major it was a
requirement to go to Youth Group for two semesters - however, after
meeting Malarie it was not a chore!  She even invited me to a bday
party at her house.  She was a very sweet sensitive person who I think
had a gift for noticing the needs of others.  Over the years we
continued to email from time to time & she found me on Facebook.  She
was a very sweet girl & I know her family feels a loss that cannot be
described.  The only thing we can claim is that God's grace will see
them through this very sad tragedy.  They will be in my prayers &
their sweet daughter will never be forgotten.

I remember Malorie from AWANA and Junior High.  She had that twinkle in her eye.  Spunk.  She will be missed.
No one dreams of losing a child or sibling.  Its "not supposed to happen".  May God strengthen you and give you peace as you travel this valley.

I have known Malarie McLamb since the day she was born. I saw her grow up as a neighbor, my child's playmate, a student, and most of all a friend. On many occasions, I told my children, her peers, that Mal was one of my all time favorite children. To know Malarie was to love Malarie. I loved Malarie's trademark, mischievous half-smile and the twinkle in her eye. In neighborhood play, Mal was champion of the underdog. Nobody got picked-on when little Mal was on duty. I loved Malarie for being a loyal friend to my children. I loved Malarie for her quiet rebellion against convention. Malarie enjoyed traveling the road less taken and walking up the down staircase. Malarie did not try to be different, she just was. For her uniqueness, I loved Malarie. In recent years, when my adult children reported a "Malarie signting", I said "I miss Mal,she was one of my favorite kids". Now, I really miss her. We are sorry for the loss of your child and our friend.

Hot**s! Late monday night we were texting each other playing catch up talking about our lives, the great times we have had, and the hard times too. You told me that all you want for me and BigBoy was for us to be happy and that you want to see me smile that same smile that you have seen once before. Now that your not here I know your looking down and watching over us. Just know that you are still my best friend/sister and you always been here for me and BigBoy and you will now take the role of our guardian angel. The times we shared will always be in my heart. I have the last picture you sent and I will treasure it forever I know you are with us. Cold**s, BigBoy, and I will never forget you! Forever sisters. Forever you will stay in our hearts. SAVE IT FOR SUNRISE! L.U.S.H. Always your Sugar Mama. P.S. One last show tonight at Floyd's Talli. FL. In memory of you!

Dear Mclamb family, Our daughter Julie heard this terrible news from a friend and called us. There are no words to describe our shock and feeling of emptiness for your loss. I just tried to call your home, but was unable to make contact. Ray, I have always admired you and Debbie--I did not realize that so much time has passed and that your children (and mine as well) are grown. I don't remember seeing Malarie since she was a child, but I know she must have been a blessing to you both. our prayers for God's grace to your family, David, Janet, Julie (Moore), and David

Malarie will be watching over the family she loved from heaven I am sure. Their pain should be eased by the love they gave Malarie. No one should lose a child but at least Malarie was very clear how much she loved her family and I'm sure she knew how they felt before she hit that wall and flew to heaven.
